PGA TOUR Announces Three-Year Extension of Web.com Tour’s United Leasing & Finance Championship

Prestigious event at Victoria National Golf Club to be contested through 2019

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The PGA TOUR and United Leasing & Finance announced today a three-year extension of the Web.com Tour’s United Leasing & Finance Championship, contested annually at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Ind. The new agreement takes place in 2017 and runs through 2019. “In five short years, the United Leasing & Finance Championship has become one of our most prestigious events, with a wonderful title sponsor, a demanding golf course and an exuberant fan base to create a memorable week of golf,” said Web.com Tour President Bill Calfee. “Today’s announcement will further solidify the tournament footprint as we continue to work towards a strong community impact in the greater Evansville area.”

The PGA TOUR and its tournaments continue a commitment to charity with a record $160 million generated for local charities in 2015 alone, helping the TOUR to surpass $2.3 billion in all-time charitable giving.

As part of that overall effort, the United Leasing & Finance Championship has raised more than $870,000 for local charities over the past five years, including a $270,000 effort at this year’s event, which was split up amongst several area non-profit groups. This year’s leading beneficiary was Deaconess Riley, a partnership between Deaconess Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children in nearby Indianapolis.

“This event receives tremendous community support, and today’s announcement allows us to continue to grow that in the coming years,” said Tournament Director Patrick Nichol. “Through our charitable outreach, we are able to leave a positive lasting impression in the greater Evansville area long after tournament week at Victoria National.”

Victoria National, which has served as tournament host since 2012, has developed a reputation as one of the more demanding venues on the annual Web.com Tour schedule. The course, which is currently 45th in Golf Digest’s list of “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses,” has statistically played as the most difficult on Tour each of the last two years.

Since the tournament’s inception in 2012, the United Leasing & Finance Championship has put forth a stellar list of champions, including PGA TOUR winners Ben Martin (2013) and Smylie Kaufman (2015), as well as Seamus Power, who won the event’s 2016 edition before representing Ireland in the Olympic Games in August.

The win was one of three top-10s this past season for Power, who secured his 2016-17 PGA TOUR card via ninth-
place finish on the Web.com Tour’s Regular Season money list.

The 2017 United Leasing & Finance Championship will be contested the week of April 17-23, with a field of 156 players competing for a $600,000 purse. All four rounds will be televised on Golf Channel.
